What a cool idea! My man-friend and I are planning to "backpack" around Costa Rica at the end of the month. Now, I am a girl who has pretty much stayed in hotels with marble bathroom counters and mints awaiting my eventual plunge into high-thread-count sheets (I am not proud of this) so I can hardly conceive of backpacking. I hope that it will not involve actually sleeping outdoors. Hostels are the plan. We are just going to hop on a plane and see where it takes us.

This is my idea and I hope it turns out to be a good one. If any of you thinks this sounds really stupid, please tell me now. And if you have any tips about Costa Rica in particular, please share.

I may end up paying forward my entire recently-assembled backpacking inventory. But I hope not! Instead I hope this trip will be liberation from the dinner-hosting, pearl-wearing, Botox-partying life I've lived for the past 20 years. Eek.
